An oasis in the country with a lot of culture …

Located in the middle of the Saar-Hunsrück nature park, the castle offers you the ideal base for cycling and hiking trips. You will find several premium hiking trails in the immediate vicinity, tailored to every personal taste with different levels of difficulty – hiking trails for which the Saarland has become famous among connoisseurs. Cycle paths with pleasant stages and signposted interruption options, places of particular importance or to stop off at, lead directly past the castle complex. Of course, we take care of keeping our guests’ bicycles safe. So you can start your bike tour from breakfast strengthened from us or you can end with an after-work beer at sunset on our terrace in the castle courtyard.

The location in the high forest in northern Saarland invites you to go on cultural and recreational excursions in the entire triangle: Germany-France-Luxembourg. Find peace in new shrub gardens or themed gardens, play golf in the golf park in our home town of Nunkirchen or discover Roman villas, an observatory, various craft museums or Tholey Abbey. If you want to go on a voyage of discovery, the palace complex is perfect for exploring the baroque fortress city of Saarlouis or the state capital Saarbrücken. A visit to the small town of Mettlach with the Villeroy & Boch company headquarters and porcelain outlet shopping is also worthwhile

Outside the Saarland in Rheinland-Pfalz, only 30 minutes away by car, the Roman city of Trier or its direct neighbor, Luxembourg, beckons with its international range of culture and shopping. Alsace and Lorraine are also easily accessible as day trips. Even Paris can be reached in just two hours from Saarbrücken with its new ICE high-speed route.
